BROCKVILLE – The former treasurer of the Prescott-based Leeds and Grenville Insurance Brokers has been given a house arrest sentence and ordered to make restitution.
During a court appearance Monday (May 1), Robin Van Luit, 46, of Prescott was given an 18-month conditional sentence, followed by three years probation.
She had pleaded guilty on Feb. 23,2016 to forgery and fraud over $5,000.
An additional charge of theft over $5,000 was withdrawn by the Crown, following the sentence.
Van Luit has also been ordered to make restitution in the amount of $57,600.74, according to court records.
Grenville County O.P.P. had discovered that more than $50,000 had been transferred out of the Leeds and Grenville Insurance Brokers bank accounts and into a private account during an investigation in March 2016.
