BROCKVILLE – A Brockville man will be spending six months behind bars for possession of child pornography.
Gary Daye (Daye-Church), 32, was found guilty Wednesday (Jan. 25) in a Brockville court on a single count of possession.
The sentence is the statutory minimum based on a summary conviction.
Two other charges related to child pornography were withdrawn by the Crown.
Court records show that after his six month jail sentence, Daye will be on two years probation and is not allowed to attend parks or places where children frequent for 10 years.
He also has to submit a DNA sample and will be on the National Sex Offender Registry for 10 years.
In January 2016, the O.P.P. Child Sexual Exploitation Unit searched a Brockville home following a four month investigation. They seized a computer, cell phone and a thumb drive. The items were later analyzed and found to have evidence of child pornography.
The seized computer and cell phone will be destroyed under a court forfeiture order.
