Man charged in Gananoque knife attack

GANANOQUE – A Gananoque man is facing a number of charges after a Kingston man was attacked with a knife.

The victim also had a handgun pointed at him during the confrontation Sunday night, town police said.

Working on a lead from Kingston police, Gananoque officers arrested a 74-year-old man early Monday morning (Nov. 7) and charged him with pointing a firearm, two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of uttering death threats, possession of a prohibited weapon and drug possession.

Police allege the Kingston man had been confronted while visiting a friend, where the victim had a gun pointed at him and then was slashed with a large knife. He suffered minor injuries, Gananoque police said.

The accused was held for a court appearance.
