BROCKVILLE – The chief executive officer from Cornwall’s hospital as well as a senior nurse will be part of a recovery team to repair the fiscally-damaged Brockville General Hospital.
Provincial supervisor Kevin Empey announced Monday afternoon that Cornwall Community Hospital CEO Jeanette Despatie will be the acting president and CEO for BGH.
Despatie has been the president and CEO of CCH for 11 years since the two hospital sites in Cornwall merged in 2005.
Despatie has been allowed to join BGH part-time after getting clearance from the CCH board of directors.
Also joining Despatie is Ginette Ferguson – a nurse practitioner with several leadership positions at the Cornwall hospital.
Rounding out the so-called “recovery team” is Dan Germain from Windsor, who will be chief information officer.
BGH has been mired in debt and had to take out a $5.3 million loan from the Local Health Integration Network in September just to cover its bills. That’s on top of $4.2 million in red ink the hospital posted at the end of the fiscal year in 2016.
