GANANOQUE – Three people, including and O.P.P. officer, were taken to hospital Thursday after a crash on Highway 401 west of here.

Leeds County O.P.P. said a collision between two vehicles and an O.P.P. cruiser happened this afternoon (Thursday) in the eastbound lanes, about two kilometers west of the County Road 32/Stone Street North exit at Gananoque.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed since 2:30 p.m. and reopened around 9 p.m.

A 78-year-old man and a 43-year-old man – both the lone drivers in the vehicles – were taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Leeds County O.P.P. officer was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Since it’s a collision involving an O.P.P. officer where someone has been hurt, the Ontario Special Investigations Unit has taken over the case.
