Police perform high-risk takedown on Highway 401

PRESCOTT – With guns drawn, Grenville County O.P.P. officers arrested two men on Highway 401 today, accused of stealing an automobile from Quebec.

Police had been told about a stolen vehicle and then stopped the Kia Rio, just west of the Merwin Lane overpass, around 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday).

Police had received a complaint about the Rio weaving through traffic erratically.

Two men from Repentigny, Que. were taken into custody without incident following the high-risk arrest.

The 17-year-old driver is charged with dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, flight whiel pursued by police, carrying a concealed weapon and driving a vehicle without a licence.

A 20-year-old passenger was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and carrying a consealed weapon.
