Heavy rain expected Tuesday

BROCKVILLE – It looks like Mother Nature is trying to make up for the drought we’ve been experiencing.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement at noon Monday for Leeds-Grenville and almost all of Southern Ontario, calling for 25-40 millimeters (1-1.6 inches) and possibly as high as 60 millimeters (2.4 inches) on Tuesday.

The rain is expected to start Tuesday afternoon and continue into the night.

It’s part of a slow-moving weather system that is picking up moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, south of Texas.

The weather agency is not ruling out the possibility of rainfall warnings on Tuesday.
