BROCKVILLE – A Halifax class frigate will be coming to Brockville next month to be part of the Tall Ships Festival.

The HMCS Montreal – a 440 foot warship – will be giving paid tours after it arrives on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 at 6 p.m.

The ship plans to anchor east of Old Man Island on the St. Lawrence River and with over 200 crew on board, organizers say it will be “a welcome shot of economic adrenaline to the local community.”

The tours ($8 for adults, $5 for children) will start at 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on the Monday (Sept. 19, 2016) from Blockhouse Island.

A special Navy commemoration ceremony will be held on the island at noon to recognize war veterans for their service and contribution.

The Royal Canadian Legion in Brockville is assisting with the coordination of the ceremony.
