LANSDOWNE – For a second time this month, the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands has opened cooling stations.
Residents are able to escape the heat today (Tuesday) from noon until 8 p.m. at the Lansdowne Recreation Hall on Jessie Street.
There is also a cooling station at Seeley’s Bay Community Hall on Main Street from 10:30 a.m. until 7 p.m.
For Wednesday, the schedule is changed a bit due to facility bookings. Here are the times and locations:
- Lansdowne Library Branch, Jessie Street, 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
- Lyndhurst Library Branch, Lyndhurst Road, 1 p.m. unilt 8 p.m.
The region is under a heat warning with temperatures expected to reach 32 degrees today and Wednesday, not including the humidity which will make it feel like 40-plus.
The township is also reminding people to be mindful of pets and that they have plenty of water and shade.
The cooling stations were opened on Wednesday last week (July 6) when temperatures pushed 30 degrees across Leeds and the Thousand Islands.
