GANANOQUE – A drunken patron from Ribfest was caught trying to drive away from the event during Canada Day.

Gananoque police were called to the main entrance at Town Hall Park off King Street East after the man attempted to drive off.

When officers arrived, he wasn’t in his vehicle, but that didn’t matter as he was arrested for having care and control of a motor vehicle.

Police say breath tests show the man was four times over the legal limit.

A 56-year-old Gananoque man is charged with being impaired while in care and control of a motor vehicle and one charge of over 80.

The Rotary and Lions Club of Gananoque 1000 Islands Family Ribfest is a fundraising event for community activities.
