Leeds and Thousand Islands CAO leaving

LANSDOWNE – Leeds and the Thousand Islands will be back looking for another chief administrative officer.

Milena Avramovic is leaving the township to take a CAO position with the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, less than two years after she’d been hired by TLTI.

Avramovic has worked with the Niagara municipality before as the director of community and development services, prior to being hired here.

The Niagara-on-the-Lake council held a special meeting last night (Thursday) to make the appointment.

Her resignation will take effect April 26, 2016. She will start in her new position on May 16, 2016.

For Leeds and the Thousand Islands, it’s back to the problem of keeping someone in the top non-elected position in the municipality for any extended length of time.

Through various circumstances, five people have held the position in the last seven years – Avramovic, Rodney Burkard, Malcolm Morris, Stephen Clark and John Theriault.

Township council will meet next week to draw up a plan to fill the position.
