KEMPTVILLE – Thieves made off with cigarettes after an early morning theft from a gas bar on County Road 43.

Grenville County O.P.P. say the MacEwen Petroleum station was broken into around 3:30 a.m. yesterday (April 13).

A van stolen from the Branch Restaurant on Clothier Street in Kemptville was found at the Park n’ Ride on Highway 416 and County Road 19.

Police believe this vehicle is connected to the break and enter.

A similar theft happened about a week-and-a-half ago (April 4) in South Mountain where thieves got cigarettes and booze from Rick’s Gas Bar on County Road 3.

O.P.P. Const. Cathy Lindsey tells Brockville Newswatch they are aware of similar types of cases occurring in the region but couldn’t say whether the two are connected.

As of Thursday afternoon (April 14) police had received no tips but were encouraging anyone with information to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
