BROCKVILLE – For the group working toward getting a roof over the Rotary pad, it was a cascade of good news to start the week.

Now only has Brockville made it into the top ten for Kraft Hockeyville 2016, but the Rotary Park Revitalization Committee also learned $41,010 has come in from the Winter Classic Weekend on Feb. 19-21, 2016.

That’s better than expected.

Making the top ten in Hockeyville is an award in itself – $25,000 – and combined with the tournament fundraising the committee now has $66,010.

The group is working to collect just over a half million dollars for the roof over the Rotary pad.

The committee already has a reported $450,000 committed so this money should bring it very close to the goal.

As for Hockeyville, the voting will begin Sunday at 9 a.m. online at www.khv2016.ca and run till Monday night at 11:59 p.m.

The Brockville Young Professionals Network also plans to have a voting station at the Brockville Memorial Center Sunday.

As for the open-air roof, construction for the foundation will likely start in the spring with the assembly in the fall.
