BROCKVILLE – A truck driver has been charged after his rig separated on a Highway 401 off-ramp, blocking North Augusta Road for a few hours Friday morning.
Brockville police said the loaded trailer came apart from the tractor unit around 7 a.m., blocking both the north and southbound lanes of North Augusta at Waverly Drive.
City works employees had to put up barricades and specialized equipment had to be brought in to remove the truck and trailer.
The road reopened just before 9:30 a.m.
There were no injuries in the mishap.
The 53-year-old driver from Oshawa is facing several Highway Traffic Act charges including operating a commercial vehicle with an insecure load, driving a vehicle with a major defect (the truck-trailer connection) and failing to accurately complete a daily inspection report.
