Public school board, support staff reach deal

BROCKVILLE – The Upper Canada school board and the union representing support staff have reached a tentative agreement.

The board announced Monday the agreement was reached, based on provincial issues settled in a November 2015 contract.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed until both sides ratify the contract.

The union will vote March 5 while the UCDSB trustees will hold a ratification vote March 23.

CUPE Local 5678 represents 1,300 support staff, custodians, clerical staff, IT staff, early childhood educators and educational assistants.

This was the final bargaining group for the Upper Canada District School Board in the current round of negotiations.
