BROCKVILLE – A weekend outdoor hockey tournament has brought in over $25,000 for a local project.

Organizers of the Brockville Winter Classic expect the total to be even higher once they wrap up the books for the Feb. 19-21, 2016 event.

The money is going toward building a roof on the downtown artificial ice pad at Rotary Park.

This was the second year for the event, which included a silent auction of hockey memorabilia, a Habs Alumni game at the Brockville Memorial Center and a community skate at the George Street ice pad.

A cheque presentation to the Rotary Park Revitalization Committee will happen at a later date.
