Upper Canada board, elementary teachers reach labour deal

BROCKVILLE – The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) and its elementary teachers have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.

The board announced Friday afternoon it was able to reach labour peace with its 1,200 grade-school teachers in the region.

The educational workers are represented by the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO).

Terms of the deal remain confidential until both sides ratify it, though the board says the deal “complements the agreements on provincial issues.”

The board will hold a vote Jan. 27 while the union’s ratification vote date hasn’t been announced.

The UCDSB still has arrive at a deal with CUPE-represented support staff.
