PRESCOTT – Provincial police have identified a fisherman, whose body was pulled from the St. Lawrence River on Sunday.

Grenville County O.P.P. said James Earl Kirkby, 48, of Augusta Township died after a boat he was in with a group of fishermen capsized on the St. Lawrence River.

Two men, who were with Kirkby, managed to swim to nearby Adams Island in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Township after the Saturday accident, and were rescued by another fishing boat.

Kirkby didn’t make it and his body was recovered by divers around 1 p.m. Sunday.

Grenville County O.P.P. Const. Cathy Lindsey told Brockville Newswatch

An autopsy is being performed to determine exactly how he died.
