BROCKVILLE – A joint raid of a home by Brockville police and the Ministry of Finance has resulted in the seizure of a cache of weapons and thousands of dollars in contraband cigarettes.

Authorities executed their search warrant Tuesday morning at a home in the center of the city, seizing 11 rifles and shotguns as well as a large amount of unstamped smokes.

An investigation lasting several months culminated with the search warrant on Tuesday.

The estimated street value of the cigarettes is $10,000-12,000.

A 54-year-old man was arrested at the scene without incident.

He’s been charged under the Tobacco Tax Act with possession of contraband cigarettes and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused did not have the proper permits to have the guns, investigators said.

The man faces additional criminal charges for illegal possession of those weapons.
