PRESCOTT – The top administrator for the Town of Prescott has announced his resignation to take a management position with a British Columbia transportation firm.

CAO Randy Helmer is leaving to work as Director of Infrastructure Engineering with Coast Mountain Bus Company, which oversees the Vancouver regional transportation network.

It’s an opportunity he called “exciting” and Helmer feels the town is being left in a good position for future growth and development.

Helmer’s last day is Nov. 20.

“I really want to thank Randy for his incredible dedication and commitment to the town during his years as our CAO,” Mayor Brett Todd said.

Helmer can add a number of accomplishments to his resume during his five year tenure as CAO with the municipality, including RiverWalk Park and the extensive overhaul of the town’s internal administration.

Helmer is married to his wife, Nancy, and has two children, Sabrina and Emily.

Director of Operations Rob Wittkie, who has previous CAO experience, will fill in as Acting CAO starting Monday, November 23.
