Unemployment rate falls in Eastern Ontario

BROCKVILLE – For the second month in a row, the jobless figure in Eastern Ontario has fallen.

The unemployment rate for the region from Brockville to Ottawa and east to Quebec for October fell 0.4 per cent of 6.5 per cent.

It was 6.9 per cent in September and 7.3 per cent in August.

Canada added 44,600 net jobs – possibly due to temporary federal election jobs – as the unemployment rate fell 0.1 per cent to seven per cent.

Unemployment in Ontario also dropped 0.1 per cent to 6.8 per cent as the province added 29,200 jobs.
