PRESCOTT – Both eastbound lanes of Highway 401 have reopened as of 3:30 p.m. after a transport rollover Tuesday morning.
The trucker was airlifted to hospital after the serious crash on Highway 401 near Prescott, which shut down the a section of the eastbound lanes from Johnstown to Maitland around 8:30 a.m.
The on- and off-ramps at Prescott are expected to be closed until 6 p.m., said police.
The flatbed truck, which was on its roof, was carrying a load of plastic piping.
Investigators said the tractor-trailer failed to negotiate the curve on the ramp and rolled, trapping the driver in the cab.
Prescott and Augusta Township firefighters had to cut the driver out of his truck.
The extent of the injuries to the driver – a 45-year-old man – are not known though are reported to be serious but not life threatening.
