Veteran O.P.P. officer facing theft, firearms charges

BROCKVILLE – A 20 year veteran with Leeds County O.P.P. is facing theft and firearms-related charges following an investigation by the force’s professional standards bureau.

Const. George Duke, 52, of Brockville was arrested Oct. 31.

He’s been charged with theft, possession of property obtained by crime, breach of trust, unlawful possession of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, unsafe storage of ammunition, possession of a firearm without a licence and a drug possession charge.

Duke was released with a promise to appear in a Brockville court Dec. 11.

In the meantime, he’s been suspect with pay under the rules set out in the Police Services Act.
