SPENCERVILLE – A distribution center and warehouse for Giant Tiger is coming to the township and hundreds of jobs with it.

Company and township officials signed the deal for the facility Tuesday, which will be on a 50 acre parcel in the Johnstown Industrial Park.

The company plans to consolidate three Ottawa Valley locations and move them to Johnstown.

While some workers will move to Edwardsburgh-Cardinal, there will be the creation of nearly 300 positions.

Giant Tiger also has a frozen food distribution plant in Brockville, which won’t be affected.

Brockville Mayor David Henderson and Prescott Mayor Brett Todd were also acknowledged for their roles in getting the deal to this point.

The timeline and plans for the 600,000 square foot facility are still being worked out.

This is the latest in a series of good news announcements for the region and Giant Tiger.

In July, the company opened a new store in Prescott to a packed parking lots and crowds of people lined up outside before its grand opening.
