SOUTH DUNDAS – Days after South Dundas and its CAO, Stephen McDonald, parted ways, the township has named its treasurer as Acting CAO.

Shannon Geraghty was appointed during a special council meeting today (Tuesday), said the municipality in a statement.

Geraghty will be filling that role, in addition to his treasury duties, until the end of the year.

On Thursday, the township announced that it had “mutually parted ways” with McDonald after he served the municipality for 10 years.

The news came days after the council met behind closed doors on two occasions (July 21 and July 15) citing the law for calling a private meeting about a personnel issue about an identifiable individual.

At least one councillor has said McDonald had been “on vacation” at least a week before Thursday’s decision.
