MALLORYTOWN – A dramatic scene on Highway 401 west of Brockville ended with the arrest of a motorcyclist.
The O.P.P. Highway Enforcement Team received a complaint about a biker around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers had tried to stop a motorcycle with their emergency lights, but the bike began weaving in and out of traffic trying to evade police before making an exit at the Mallorytown On Route.
O.P.P. said the biker then hid his motorcycle in the woods and attempted to flee on foot.
But, with members of the public assisting police, he was captured without incident.
A Richmond, Ont. man, 28, was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, stunt driving and driving without a licence.
Officers had clocked the bike on radar at 170 kilometers an hour.
He was released with a promise to appear in Brockville court Aug. 28.
