BROCKVILLE – A scuba diver has died in hospital after being pulled from the St. Lawrence River Sunday.
O.P.P. officers assisted Leeds and Grenville paramedics around 2 p.m. after a diver was pulled unconscious from the water near Sparrow Island.
The man was brought to St. Lawrence Park and then taken to hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.
The victim is identified as Raymond Bloch, 55, of Tecumseh, Ont.
The coroner’s office is investigating and an autopsy is being conducted today (Monday).
It’s the second death this weekend of a scuba diver in Eastern Ontario.
On Saturday, filmmaker and businessman John Earle of Cornwall died following a dive in Lake St. Lawrence, west of Cornwall.
In both cases, it’s not known whether the accidents were diving or medical-related.
