Tips sought in mutilated cat case in Brockville park

BROCKVILLE – The Ontario SPCA is asking the public for information after an adult black cat was found mutilated in Centeen Park on Water Street.

The discovery by park employees was made a month ago (June 16, 2015) but OSPCA officials only asked for help in the case today (Thursday).

The cause of death is being listed as trauma from the feline being severed in half.

An autopsy showed the cat’s windpipe had been cut and it had multiple bone fractures.

Officials said there were no puncture wounds, ruling out a possible animal attack.

If you have any information you’re asked to 310-SPCA, the society’s toll-free 24-hour call center.

“All calls will remain anonymous,” said Senior Inspector Steve Toy.
