PRESCOTT – A police officer who hails from and spent a good portion of his policing career in northern Ontario is taking over as head of the Grenville County OPP detachment.
Insp. Joshua Kingsley has been named detachment commander, the provincial force announced Friday.
Kingsley started at the Kapuskasing OPP detachment 12 years ago as a constable and then as a detective before getting a promotion and becoming a sergeant at the Leeds County OPP detachment in 2016.
The Sudbury native is living in Augusta Township with his wife and kids.
Const. Ann Collins describes Kingsley as having a “very hands-on approach to his job” and is usually out in the field supporting fellow officers and going to community meetings.
The position has been filled by others in an acting role since Insp. June Dobson took a leave of absence. She was named detachment commander in December 2016.
