Wrong-way driver facing three charges

NORTH GRENVILLE – A teenage woman from the Petawawa area is facing drunk driving-related charges after Grenville County O.P.P. stopped a wrong-way driver on Highway 416 last week.

It happened last Monday morning (July 2) but police only released details today (July 9) as part of their weekly report.

Police first got reports around 1:30 a.m. of a speeding car heading south in the northbound lanes on Highway 416 from West Hunt Club Road near the City of Ottawa.

The car was later spotted by an officer going through a construction zone – still in the wrong direction and also on the wrong side of the construction barriers.

O.P.P. were able to get the driver to stop without anyone being injured.

A 19-year-old woman from Laurentian Hills, Ont. is facing two drunk driving related charges as well as a dangerous driving charge.
