Transport loses set of wheels on Highway 401

FRONT OF YONGE – A woman from the Orillia area has be ticketed after a tractor trailer lost a set of wheels on Highway 401 Wednesday night.

Leeds County O.P.P. received calls around 9:30 p.m. about a truck in the eastbound lanes which had lost a rear dual set of wheels.

The truck was stopped by police in Front of Yonge.

The driver, a 21-year-old woman from Severn Township, Ont., was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for a wheel separation offence.

The trailer was towed and police say further charges are pending against the trailer owner.

Each of the two wheels were found in two separate locations by O.P.P. officers.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is also involved in the investigation.
