BROCKVILLE/PRESCOTT – A Brockville man, caught trying to lure what he thought was a teenage girl on the internet, will be spending the rest of his life on the national sex offender registry.

Jason Ronald Link, who was 44 at the time, was charged in August 2015 with two counts of luring a child on the internet, following a 17-month O.P.P. investigation.

Link was caught after an O.P.P. officer with the Child Sexual Exploitation Unit – posing as a 13-year-old girl – set up a meeting at a Prescott establishment. He was arrested after showing up at the meeting spot.

Link was found guilty Dec. 12, 2017 and sentenced to 45 days in jail. He is also on probation for two years following the completion of his sentence. The 45 day jail sentence included a 315 day credit for time served (210 days at one-and-a-half times credit).

He also has to submit a DNA sample and is on the national sex offender registry for life. There is also a court order that Link not visit places where children frequent, such as parks and playgrounds, for the next 10 years.
