Update 1:37 p.m. Saturday: Environment Canada has ended the freezing rain warning for the southern portion of Leeds-Grenville.

BROCKVILLE – Emergency responders were warning of extremely slippery conditions Friday along the Highway 401 corridor.

This, as Environment Canada issued a freezing rain warning for an area from Gananoque to Prescott at 4 p.m., in addition to a special weather statement earlier in the day. The statement has since ended.

The weather agency is calling for 10-15 centimeters (4-6 inches) of snow, which will become mixed with freezing rain and ice pellets tonight.

“Motorists should be prepared for poor winter travelling conditions today, tonight and Saturday,” the agency said.

There were already numerous collisions reported, including a single vehicle rollover on Highway 401 near Gananoque and multiple vehicles involved in accidents between Prescott and Maitland, east of Brockville.
