Two arrested in Cardinal drug search

EDWARDSBURGH-CARDINAL – Two people have been arrested after a drug search at a home in the village of Cardinal.

Officers with the O.P.P. Community Street Crime Unit and the Emergency Response Team searched an apartment late Monday morning (Oct. 30).

Police were able to seize a number of drugs at the scene, including crack cocaine, heroin and crystal meth.

Two 30-year-old suspects – Ashley Cleary and James Ellis – are facing various drug trafficking charges.

The man faced an additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order.

While police did not disclose how much in drugs they seized, based on the charges, at least 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds) of one illicit drug was recovered.
