BROCKVILLE – A pickup truck driver on a wild ride from O.P.P. patrolled roads in Leeds-Grenville into the City of Brockville saw officers able to box in the truck late Saturday morning.

City police got a call around 11:30 a.m. from provincial police that a pickup – possibly with an impaired driver behind the wheel – had been involved in an accident and had fled the scene.

Police say numerous eyewitnesses saw the pickup travelling erratically at a high rate of speed, going through red lights and stop signs into the city.

According to Brockville police, by the time they were able to stop the truck, the vehicle had no tires – it was riding on the rims and had significant damage.

A 36-year-old local man has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving and impaired driving.

Investigators say a roadside Breathalyzer pegged the driver at 3.5 times the legal limit.

Fortunately, there were no injuries.
