RIDEAU FERRY – An American boater in the Rideau Ferry Regatta has died of his injuries after being ejected in a high speed crash Saturday afternoon.

East Region O.P.P. say the operator – a 69-year-old man from Lakeville, Minn. — was in a race on Lower Rideau Lake when the vessel became airborne, ejecting him from the craft.

The man was taken by Lanark County paramedics to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

An autopsy is being performed in Ottawa at a future date.
