NORTH AUGUSTA – He definitely did ‘strike it big.’

Robert Towns of North Augusta was won $250,000 on an Instant Strike It Big ticket.

Towns said he was playing the ticket at home when he realized he had hit a big prize.

“I gave it to my wife and asked her to have a look. I knew I won something but needed her to double check. Right away she thought I misread the results,” Towns said.

Towns had thought he won $25,000 but on closer examination it turned out to be a quarter million dollars.

He said the winning couldn’t come at a better time.

“These last two years have been an incredible challenge for my family. We faced some serious health challenges that put me in the hospital and more recently we found out our son suffers from kidney failure. He undergoes dialysis treatment every night. Ensuring he receives the proper care has meant my wife is no longer able to work. Our children are the light of our lives and of course, we will do everything we can to keep everyone healthy and happy. With this win, we are now able to relax and put health and family at the top of our priorities.”

Robert plans to take care of some bills and also buy a new vehicle.

The winning ticket was bought at Riopelle’s Convenience in North Augusta.
