AVONMORE – The province has announced nearly $53 million for the Upper Canada District School Board’s capital projects, which include a new Brockville school to consolidate Toniata, Commonwealth and Prince of Wales Public Schools.
Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MPP Grant Crack, flanked by school board members, made the announcement this morning at a public school in Avonmore, about 100 kilometers east of Brockville.
Most of the $52.6 million will be used for building a new Cornwall superschool (with a price tag of $41 million).
Also on the list of capital projects is a new elementary school in the south end of Brockville, to conslidate Toniata Public School and Commonwealth Public School, with Prince of Wales Public School.

In March, the UCDSB announced eight school closures and a further four school site closures, subject to provincial funding, across Eastern Ontario.
