Leeds-Grenville police torch runs this week for Special Olympics

KEMPTVILLE – Police officers across Leeds-Grenville will be running this week as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

Grenville County O.P.P. officers will be joined by CBSA officers and area Special Olympics athletes and students from South Grenville High School for a run and walk on King Street and Edward Street in Prescott, Wednesday.

It starts at 9:30 a.m. behind Walker House at 623 King Street West.

Meanwhile, in Kemptville, a run will happen in the downtown core, starting at Kemptville Public School at 1:30 p.m.

On Thursday in Brockville, the torch run starts at 10:45 a.m. at the Metro on King Street and will head to the Home Hardware on Stewart Boulevard. The Brockville Police Service and Leeds County O.P.P. officers are participating.

A torch run will also leave Merrickville Public School on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and will wind through the Village of Merrickville.

This is the 30th year for the Torch Run in Ontario, which has raised over $35 million.
