BROCKVILLE – A driver has been arrested after a late night high speed chase on Highway 401 from Mallorytown to here.

Leeds County O.P.P. say they tried to stop a Ford Mustang around 11 p.m. Tuesday night when the driver fled.

Officers gave chase and, after roughly 20 kilometers, they were able to stop the vehicle near Brockville.

At some points in the pursuit, speeds reached 82 kilometers an hour over the speed limit of 100 kilometers an hour, the O.P.P. said.

Const. Sandra Barr told Brockville Newswatch they used a “rolling block” maneuver to get the sports car to slow down and stop.

Barr said city police in Brockville also assisted in some capacity.

A 21-year-old man from North York, Ont. will appear in a Brockville court May 3 on charges of stunt driving and failing to stop for police.

The Mustang was also impounded for a week.
