BROCKVILLE – A new executive director has been named for the United Way Leeds and Grenville.

Trish Buote is joining the organization, leaving her role as development director for the Aquatarium.

She has over 20 years of experience in both not-for-profit and for-profit organizations, the UWLG said in a release Tuesday.

Those not-for-profits included the SickKids Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The five year strategic plan for the local United Way will be front and center for Buote in her new role.

Buote takes over for Melissa Hillier, who announced in February she was leaving to follow her husband, Dr. Matthew Rodrigues, in his job as a cancer researcher.

The United Way fundraising for a number of local agencies struggled this past season and raised $805,643 after an extended campaign.
