Is that your bank emailing? Not likely, say police

BROCKVILLE – The latest online scam has people sending email posing as your friendly neighbourhood bank, city police said Wednesday.

Brockville police said they are getting “increasing complaints” about fraudsters sending email telling you to click on a link and confirm your information after an unsuccessful sign in.

“To look authentic, the email also includes phone numbers to contact for assistance,” police said.

Police suggest you contact your local bank before responding to an email and also check the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center for more information.
