David Maracle, 51, of Brantford, Ont. was residing at the Henry Trail Community Correctional Facility on Bath Road in Kingston before he walked away Sunday night.
He was spotted by someone at Cornwall Square around 7:45 p.m., according to city police there.
Maracle has an extensive criminal history including convictions for possession of a weapon, break and enter, assault, kidnapping, sexual assaults and overcoming resistance by choking.
