BROCKVILLE – City police are looking for a vehicle involved in, what police are calling, an encounter that could have harmed members of the public.

It happened just after midnight Saturday morning (Jan. 21) near King Street East.

Brockville police say one of their officers stopped a 2002 blue two-door Honda Civic for a traffic violation.

“As the officer walked up to speak to the male driver, the vehicle fled off at an extremely high rate of speed that would be considered dangerous to the public,” Const. Steve Rogers said in a statement.

The officer didn’t give chase in the interest of public safety.

The vehicle had winter tires on black steel winter rims with silver lug nuts. It also had a very large resonator on the rear passenger side of the vehicle and no window tint, police said.

Police believe there was only one person in the car – a man in his early 20s.

If you have any information on the vehicle you’re asked to call Const. Dan Hall at 613-342-0127.
