School buses cancelled as freezing rain hits Leeds-Grenville

BROCKVILLE – School buses have been cancelled across the region as freezing rain is expected to blanket the area today (Tuesday).

All school buses have been cancelled for the Upper Canada District School Board and the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario.

The schools remain open for those that can get to class.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement late Monday afternoon. It said a wintry mix of snow, mixed with ice pellets and freezing drizzle, was expected to hit the region with about two centimeters accumulation throughout the day.

That has since been upgraded to a freezing rain warning this morning (Tuesday).

With temperatures at or slightly below freezing, Environment Canada says travel conditions are expected to be poor.
