BROCKVILLE – It’s probably the farthest thing from your mind given the weather and the upcoming holiday season but local MP Gord Brown announced that the Canada Summer Jobs Program is taking applications.

The applications are being taken earlier this year allowing students to start work at the beginning of April, Brown explained.

The program supplements non-profits, public sector workers and small businesses in order to create a summer job position for students, aged 15-30.

There’s $568,767 available in Brown’s riding, up from the base $226,913.

“Last year 249 jobs representing 63,508 hours for a total of $632,095 were approved for the riding,” Brown said.

You can find more information at Service Canada Centers and online.

Applications are being accepted until Jan. 20, 2017.
