BROCKVILLE – A couple of men thought they could pull the old driver switcheroo on Brockville police but it didn’t work.

A police officer stopped a vehicle Friday night with its interior lights on for making an unsafe lane change and for several traffic violations.

When the car stopped, the officer saw the driver and passenger switch positions “to try and throw the investigation off course,” Brockville police said.

But it turns out neither guy knew the other didn’t have a driver’s licence.

Both men were arrested for obstructing police, drug possession (marijuana) and one faced a breach of probation charge in relation to a “serious crime”.

Highway Traffic Act charges were also laid for no licence, no insurance an the vehicle was impounded.

Both were scheduled to appear in a Brockville court for a bail hearing today (Oct. 31).
