EASTERN ONTARIO – It seems communities in Eastern Ontario are dealing with their own cases of the creepy clown craze, rattling nerves across North America.
Cornwall was one of those places Wednesday night as Facebook video shows a person in a clown costume, pacing up and down Marlborough Street South.
Cornwall police Const. Dan Cloutier told CNW they did get a call around 9 p.m. about a male, dressed in a clown costume, allegedly stopping vehicles in the area of Marlborough Street South.
Officers attended the scene but couldn’t locate the suspect, Cloutier said.
Earlier in the day (Wednesday) in Brockville, police said they were investigating reports over a Facebook post about “killer clowns” in the area.
The reports turned out to be unfounded, police said.
The phenomenon has been sweeping North America from the southern United States to Nova Scotia and Sudbury.
Some schools in Ohio were put on lockdown last week because of creepy clown sightings.
Just what’s driving this trend – which has happened before in 2014 – is a bit of a mystery.
