BROCKVILLE – A middle-aged man is nursing cuts and bruises to his face after walking in on two men ransacking his apartment.

Officers were called to a King Street East apartment on Sunday night after receiving a 911 call from a man claiming “he was almost stabbed in the face.”

When they got there, they could see a man holding a knife to the victim’s face and, as they entered the home, the accused dropped the knife.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, break and enter, mischief and breach of probation.

Investigators believe two men had broken into the apartment before the victim got home and had smashed a number of articles in the home.

After walking in on them, the victim had tried the play nice in trying to get them to leave. But it didn’t work, as the man was repeatedly punched in the face and had been assaulted.

Police said the victim and the perpetrators knew each other and Brockville police are also familiar with the 45-year-old victim.

The other accused – a 36-year-old man – was charged with break and enter and mischief.

No names were released by Brockville police, as per their policy.
