GANANOQUE – A middle-aged man has been arrested in Gananoque, accused of stealing from a donation collection site for a local charity.

Police were called yesterday (Tuesday) about a man taking stuff from a property without permission from the manager on site.

This wasn’t the first time, as the manager told police this had been an ongoing problem with the suspect and he had been told before not to take items without permission.

Police later learned some of the items were being given to a third party by the accused.

The third party was also part of an investigation into a theft from the same location on Monday
(June 20).

A 48-year-old man from Gananoque was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and having possession of property obtained by crime.

The man, who was not identified by police, was released with a promise to appear in court at a later date.
